Casey and Steve – Teaser

My how time files when you’re having fun (and 9 months pregnant!) I hope Casey and Steve can forgive me for the delayed teaser post from their wedding!!  Casey and Steve’s wedding also marked the 2/3 point for the season for us – of our 2011 weddings; we only have 1/3 left.  It’s hard to believe how fast the year has gone, and it makes me a little sad.  I get bored in the off-season. :) (However I’m predicting that this year with our little one on the way that I won’t have time to get bored.)

Anyway, enough about me, back to Casey and Steve!  Thank goodness it wasn’t hotter-than-hades like the previous week!  The reduced heat combined with the no-rain-factor made it a beautiful day.  I started at the salon with the ladies, where they were getting dolled up and drinking mimosas.  When the hairdresser put the veil on Casey, we all burst into tears (yes, even me).  It was a wonderful moment with her mom and her girls; I was so glad I was there to capture it.

Early in the day Brian wanted to get a picture with Steve and his mom.  He hadn’t met her yet and wasn’t sure what she looked like, so he asked the groomsmen to point her out if they saw her.  They did… and continuted to do it for the rest of the day.  Anytime Brian was in the vicinity of Steve’s mom the nearest groomsman would walk up and point her out.  At one point during the reception Brian was talking to Steve’s mom, and one of the groomsman walked up and said “by the way, that’s Steve’s mom.”  Hilarious!

During the ceremony, the priest used a bible that Casey’s dad provided; it was signed by Mother Theresa on one of her visits to the United States.  It was so neat that they were able to use it on one of the most important days of their life.  I also just loved during the ceremony when Steve, Casey, and the priest had a big group hug.  I’ve never seen a priest do that before, but it was quite touching!

Later, we were happy to see Bill, the limo driver from Vogue Limousine. He just happened to be the same driver at our last wedding (Ashley and Kevin).  He’s an awesome guy, and probably one of the best limo drivers we’ve worked with this year.  Bill drove us to a park, where we had an awesome time with the bridal party.  They were totally into photography and so much fun!  Several of the groomsmen climbed a tree for a group portrait –  need I say more?

At the reception, the best man gave quite potentially the “best” best man speech we’ve heard all year.  He started the speech by asking the crowd “what do we do when we don’t know how to do something?  That’s right, we Google it.”  He then went on to explain the intricacies of a best man speech he learned from Google.  It worked – well done, sir!  Randy from D and R Audio kept the party hoppin’ all night, and was one of the best DJs with whom we’ve ever worked.  Casey and Steve also picked some great tunes for the night –  you can’t go wrong with a little NKOTB and Vanilla Ice in my opinion.

About halfway through the reception, it became clear I wasn’t the only one worried I’d go into labor during the wedding. When we talked to Casey’s dad later in the evening, we explained that we’d probably have a baby before they saw their photos.  He laughed and said he wasn’t worried about that, he was worried I’d “pop” night.  I didn’t have any premonitions of going into labor that day, but being 8 1/2 months pregnant it was a possibility and definitely in the back of my mind.  Throughout the night several people came up and told me “reassuringly” that there was a labor and delivery nurse in attendance.  Luckily, I didn’t need her services! :)  Truth be told, if I did go into labor, I probably would have done all I could to stick it out to the end of the night.  I would have thought “labor lasts for hours, I’ve got time to finish this out!”  Seriously, I’m that much of a workaholic (or is it control freak?)!

Casey and Steve are big sports fans.  Towards the end of the night, they had a “seventh inning stretch.”  The DJ played “Take Me Out to The Ballgame” and the caterers rolled out a huge spread of root beer, Cracker Jacks, soft pretzels, peanuts, and popcorn.  The pretzels looked handmade (not the typical freezer variety you find at concession stands) and the hot cheese to go with them smelled divine!  The guests just loved the idea –  they ate it up, literally!  Another highlight of the reception came near the end of the evening.  All of the guys gathered around Casey and sang “You’ve Lost that Loving Feeling.” A-M-A-Z-I-N-G.

Once again, the night seemed to be over before it started!  We can’t wait to share more images from their wedding as soon as possible!

Cheers!

Lisa
